TEAM BUILDING FOR EVERY OCCASION

How to Build a Strong and Well-Coordinated Team

TEAM WORK

Teamwork is the core characteristic of every great escape room experience. While solving a mission together, players gradually connect, help one another, and along the way someone’s idea, observation skills, practical ability, or some other X-factor inevitably comes to light. Of course, quality teamwork in a well-designed escape room will not replace professional, targeted skills training for individuals. However, it can certainly — quickly and effectively — elevate practical experience, open new perspectives on efficient teamwork in small groups, improve problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and strengthen leadership skills. This is undoubtedly one of the easier ways to, over time, develop top-tier team players, boost their self-confidence and independent decision-making abilities, and help them overcome obstacles — or, metaphorically speaking, open any locked door.

More Than Just Fun

*“Escape rooms are not just entertainment — they’re a unique way to train logical and analytical thinking while strengthening team bonds. Fox in a Box games are recommended for colleagues from companies and organizations because they strongly emphasize teamwork, effective communication, and task distribution among individuals, while also encouraging creative thinking. All of this happens under time pressure — just like in a real work environment. Each game is
a unique challenge where every team member has a moment to be the hero. For example, even though the success rate of The Bank Job is around 30%, more than 90% of players tell us after the game that they truly enjoyed the entire experience. Overall, it’s an invaluable experience shared with us by numerous companies and organizations from Sarajevo and across Bosnia and Herzegovina.”*

For Every Occasion

“Over the past two to three months, we’ve hosted a significant number of team-building events — companies and associations that recognized the potential of Fox in a Box in this area. We offer various solutions and always adapt to our clients’ needs. For example, we recently hosted Fortuna Travel, a major global tourism organization connecting Europe and the Far East. They wanted a fully managed team-building experience during their annual gathering in Sarajevo. The challenge was significant: around 40 participants, all wanting to play at the same time, with only two hours available. For this special occasion, we partnered with our neighbors — the Museum of Literature and Performing Arts — who provided their gallery and museum space. We integrated elements of our portable game into that environment and adapted the game theme accordingly. At the same time, we activated our two regular games, so everyone participated in a shared ‘secret agent’ mission. Some teams ‘robbed a bank,’ while others had to ‘defuse a bomb’ or ‘hunt down criminals.’ All of this took place within the museum and gallery setting, where participants could explore exhibits — and even discover a few ‘fake’ ones planted as part of the game. It was essentially a live-action movie — full of adventure, action, and excitement.”* — Admir Avdić, Manager, Fox in a Box Sarajevo

*“After that, we continued with our portable game The Final Exam, hosting events at various locations as part of already scheduled hotel seminars (Roche–Tarčin Forest Resort, Vaillant at SRCA Ajdinovići, Red Bull at Termag, and more), as well as directly inside company offices where clients allocated a small room and a bit of time (Klika, East Codes). Flexibility is the key advantage of portable games — there’s no need for major resources when organizing a team-building event where people are already gathered. Recently, we hosted a sales team-building for Boreas–Stanić at Hills. Since we already have a permanent game setup there, we supplemented it with a portable game to increase capacity within a limited timeframe.Everyone involved had a top-tier experience that enriched the seminar program. We offer many options, and several companies have already announced their next team-building events with us. Our job is to find the best solutions for our clients.”* — Admir Avdić

The Mission of Getting to Know Each Other

Many factors contribute to successful projects and shared business achievements. Alongside individual professional skills, relationships within the team are among the most important. No matter how competent people are individually, real success is impossible without mutual understanding, respect, trust, and the ability to work together. Here’s one unique way to truly connect:

*“The most complete team-building experience is when we arrange for employees to visit our venue on Sime Milutinovića Street in smaller groups, according to a prearranged schedule — usually toward the end of the workday or after hours. People enjoy the authentic atmosphere, and we often organize friendly competitions between teams, rewarding the best one. One notable example was the recent team-building event for Walter, which also had a special mission — helping new employees get to know one another. Sharing a 60-minute mission, whether it’s robbing a bank or passing a secret agent final exam in Mr. Fox’s office, inevitably brings people closer in a unique way. We know this for sure because participants later tell us they keep retelling anecdotes from the experience — often as conversation starters over coffee.”* — Admir Avdić

After the project concluded and gift vouchers were awarded to the top teams at their office, Aida Omanović, Office Manager at Walter, shared her perspective:

*“Walter d.o.o. currently employs over 80 professionals — IT specialists, architects, mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers. Since our team has been growing monthly and we previously operated from two different office locations, new employees often didn’t have enough opportunity to meet colleagues from other departments or collaborate on projects.
That’s why Fox in a Box proved to be the perfect team-building solution. It allowed employees from different departments to spend an hour together in a dynamic, demanding, yet highly enjoyable environment — where cooperation was the only way to succeed and win the prize for the best team. The Fox in a Box team ensured excellent organization and atmosphere throughout the event, leaving participants with a strong impression and a desire to repeat this type of team-building experience in the near future.”*

The key is recognizing the potential — or using this as inspiration for your next team-building event, whether integrated into daily activities or combined with seminars, conferences, or gatherings that already bring your team together. “Our goal is to further popularize this type of entertainment and team-building activity. Business users — HR managers, office managers, and similar roles — are the ones who can initiate change, break workplace monotony in a unique way, and provide unforgettable experiences for their colleagues.” Fox in a Box also announced upcoming new games and content, further expanding their offer.
